- Description:
- Drypoint and engraving, with pencil, blue gouache, correction fluid, and red ink additions
- State Changes and Additions:
- Changes from state I in drypoint: extended rear right leg to cross behind foreground leg.
Additions in pencil and correction fluid: extended and widened the legs, rounded the body, and added a head, anticipating state III.
Additions in blue gouache: filled in the body, anticipating state IV. - Artist’s Remarks:
- Inscribed on the verso of the source drawing: "Patte Cassée / Broken leg. / Friendly Spider: The snake curled around one of its leg and sits there. Sept."
