Background:

To create this work, Bourgeois cut up an impression and collaged it on top of another impression of the same composition. The impression seen here is the only collaged example of this composition. According to the artist’s assistant, Jerry Gorovoy, Bourgeois liked the sculptural possibilities that cutting and collaging provided.

This composition was created at the same time as the series on fabric of the same title. See the first work in Related Works in the Catalogue below.
