Background:
Bourgeois created prints as holiday gifts for a circle of friends. "Pink Days" was made in two versions, one a small screenprint on paper, and the other, a larger digital print on fabric, with both used as holiday gifts in 2008. The larger fabric version was made for Bourgeois's VIP list.
Curatorial Remarks:
The fabric is trimmed at the edges; Bourgeois's fabric works were more commonly hemmed.

Bourgeois's use of music paper as a support for drawings goes back to the early 1940s. Here, Dyenamix used digital printing to create the music paper background.
Description:
Digital print, with black thread additions
State Changes and Additions:
Changes from version 1: composition enlarged and printed on fabric.
Additions stitched in black thread: G-clef.
Other Remarks:
Raylene Marasco of Dyenamix noted that she produced samples of this composition in screenprint on fabric. Ultimately, Bourgeois chose digital printing for the edition.

According to Bourgeois's assistant, Jerry Gorovoy, "pink days" meant good days and happiness for the artist, and "blue days" meant bad days and depression.
