- Background:
- According to printer Felix Harlan of Harlan & Weaver, the floral motif in this composition was inspired by a very old piece of upholstery fabric that belonged to the artist.
The inscription on the verso of state I refers to Bourgeois's husband, Robert Goldwater, and her three sons, Michel, Jean-Louis, and Alain. - Curatorial Remarks:
- The type of paper and composition dimensions could not be documented because this impression is not in MoMA's Collection and could not be examined in person. The sheet dimensions were provided by the Louise Bourgeois Studio.
