- Background:
- According to Bourgeois’s assistant, Jerry Gorovoy, the artist occasionally crossed her eyes to amuse her friends. Also, she admired the paintings of cross-eyed women by artist John Graham (1886-1961).
- Curatorial Remarks:
- This impression is not in MoMA's collection and could not be examined in person to confirm that it is state II of II.
Also, the plate dimensions could not be documented. The plate dimensions given are from the impression of state I on paper in MoMA's collection. - Description:
- Drypoint, with selective wiping, and red ink additions
