Background:
State V of this composition, printed on paper, was created as a 2004 holiday gift for a circle of friends. In the same year, Bourgeois created another composition, on fabric, called, Untitled (Descriptive Title: Hand Holding Tree), for a selected, smaller group of friends.
Description:
Drypoint, with blue ink additions
State Changes and Additions:
Changes from state III in drypoint: alternating leaves on the plant at the right, fully shaded.
Additions in blue ink: scattered leaves on the plant at the left, shaded in, and alternating leaves on the plant at the right, further delineated, both anticipating state V.
