There is 1 known variant impression of state VI, outside the two editions.

There are variations in the fabrics used in this edition, including some scorching and staining, as is commonly found in the old fabrics Bourgeois chose to use as printing surfaces. Several impressions have patterns woven into the fabric as seen in the example reproduced here.

Drypoint, with punched holes, and black thread additions
State Changes and Additions:
Changes from state V in drypoint: ears partially reinforced and further delineated.
Changes from state V by hole punching: openings of ear canals cut out.
Additions stitched in black thread: edges of holes reinforced.
