- Changes from version 1, state IX, in engraving: hatch marks added to pentagonal form and top of middle structure.
- Artist’s Remarks:
- The structures "have tried to keep their dignity, but they have been overrun and broken by the flood of the river. Proud as they once were, now they have broken down. How sad.... Guilt and depression come after losing control. They were almost destroyed. No one can do anything against the unpredictable river. But, they are still standing... there is still life here... there can be regeneration." (Quote cited in Wye, Deborah and Carol Smith. "The Prints of Louise Bourgeois."
